Dr. Shari Sperling offers her patients in New Jersey QWO, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to reduce moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks.
One of the most universal skin conditions in women is cellulite. Up to 90 percent of women are forced to deal with it on a daily basis, according to some studies.
The most frustrating feature of cellulite is the difficulty in getting rid of it. Because our bodies don’t burn cellulite fat for energy, even a strict diet and workout regimen can fail to alleviate the dimples it creates.
Understanding this battle is what brings Dr. Sperling to provide her New Jersey patients with QWO. At Sperling Dermatology in New Jersey QWO is offered as the first and only FDA-approved injection treatment proven to help visibly reduce moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks. And it can do so within just a few months of treatment!
QWO is an injection treatment that focuses directly on the dimples caused by cellulite in the buttocks. This dimpling is caused by what is known as “fibrous septae” — fibers in the dermal layer of skin that are not what we would typically consider fat.
Fibrous septae are collagen-rich structures that act as connective tissues between the skin and fat. These structures, over time, will undergo tension caused by any number of factors, including diet, age, or even hormones. This tensioning causes the outer layer of skin to be drawn down towards the deeper tissue. Fats end up trapped within this dermal layer of skin during this process, causing the trademark dimpling we see on our skin.
Enzymes within QWO (called collagenases) work to redistribute these fat cells within the dermal layer by stimulating the growth of new collagen. This collagen is what our body is lacking in those areas, and the restoration of them helps to ease the tension on the fibrous septae causing the dimpling.
The QWO treatment process is fast, painless, and does not involve any recovery time. Because QWO is an injection-based treatment, each QWO procedure can take as little as 10 minutes, meaning you can come in for a treatment and immediately get back to your day with no post-treatment downtime. A typical treatment plan for QWO includes three injections, with one injection every three weeks.
Because QWO is such a fast-acting solution, you will be able to see results in just 10 weeks. As your body begins to produce more collagen in the targeted areas, the fibrous septae that cause skin dimpling will begin to relax, and you can soon expect to see visible reductions in the cellulite dimpling in the buttocks.
While long-term studies of QWO are ongoing, all indications are that QWO’s fantastic results can last for years, with no reduction in effects once all treatments are completed.
Nearly everyone who has cellulite is a candidate for QWO, as the process is simple, convenient, non-surgical, and requires no downtime. Many of us who deal with cellulite on our bodies have tried a variety of methods to rid ourselves of it with diet, massages, or even laser treatments.
However, because our bodies do not use cellulite fat as a fuel source like other fats, we know it can be near impossible to improve cellulite’s appearance and presence through even strict diets and exercise.
Our New Jersey Dermatologist and her team at Sperling Dermatology will do a full review of your medical history to determine if QWO is safe for you. In the event that you are allergic to collagenase or any of the ingredients in QWO, or if you have an active infection, you should not receive QWO.
You should also let Dr. Sperling know if you are pregnant or nursing before you begin your treatment. Sperling Dermatology will also assist you with what to expect during the post-treatment process as part of your consultation.
The best part about QWO (other than its results) is the simplicity of the treatment process. Upon coming in for your New Jersey QWO injection, the targeted area will first be marked up specifying treatment areas, followed by a QWO injection to each section as needed. Anesthesia is not necessary, as the process is relatively painless, thanks in part to the natural ‘cushion’ our buttocks have. Once the injections have been completed, you can leave the office and continue your day as you normally would – no downtime necessary!
As with most injection treatments, there is a small risk of slight swelling and bruising at the injection site. Bruising typically lasts up to one or two weeks, so you might want to plan accordingly – perhaps save that trip to the beach for a few more days! Aside from that, there is no downtime or recovery needed, so you can get back to your normal schedule immediately.
A full QWO process consists of an injection into the treatment area every three weeks, for a total of only three visits! You will begin to see the first results of your QWO treatment following a single treatment, but ideal outcomes will come from the full treatment process being completed as scheduled.
After the final treatment, you will see a noticeable reduction in cellulite as the fibrous bands loosen and collagen production increases. These results should last for years following treatment without the need for additional injections.
